Tree of Love
The Aspirus Keweenaw Auxiliary announces the Tree of Love Ceremony will take place Thursday, December 11 at 7:00pm in the hospital lobby in Laurium. The Tree of Love event is held to honor living loved ones or memorialize a loved one who has passed on.
Jan Jurmu, a member of the Calumet-Laurium community and past employee of Aspirus Keweenaw, started the Tree of Love ceremony in 1993 in memory of her daughter, Jamie. The ceremony has grown to become the largest non-profit fundraiser of the year for the Auxiliary.
To honor or memorialize a loved one, donations are made toward the decoration of the Tree of Love, which will be lit at the ceremony on December 11. Individuals may purchase a light ($3), bell ($25), angel ($50) or star ($100). Bells, angels and stars may be taken home following the ceremony by those who have made donations at each of those levels.
The public is invited to attend this wonderful event. Those wishing to purchase a decoration or make a donation will find forms at the hospital information desk, Aspirus Keweenaw pharmacies, rehab & fitness centers, our clinic in Lake Linden, Medical Arts and FastCare in Houghton. Any questions regarding the Tree of Love may be directed to Deb Dlubala, Volunteer Coordinator at 337-6961.
