Aspirus Keweenaw Donates Proceeds from Triathlon

October 22, 2009 in Aspirus News

The Aspirus Keweenaw Copperman Triathlon that was held in Copper Harbor on August 1st was not only a success for the 300 plus participants that competed in this year’s event, but also because the Copper Harbor Improvement Association (CHIA) was the beneficiary of the proceeds from the event. A donation of $3,000.00 was recently presented to CHIA.

“Every year we look to take the proceeds from the Copperman Triathlon and make a donation to a group that can use these funds to improve their efforts here in the Keweenaw.”, said Terry Smythe, Fitness Director for Aspirus Keweenaw, “CHIA is a great organization that does so much for Copper Harbor, and being the host for the event makes me feel good knowing we can give something back to better the area, especially for the silent sport enthusiasts.”

The Aspirus Keweenaw Copperman Triathlon is held annually the first Saturday of August in Copper Harbor. To learn more about the event please visit keweenawcopperman.org.
