Aspirus Keweenaw Donates Time and Services to Local Youth Athletes

July 13, 2009 in Aspirus News

Physicians and staff members at Aspirus Keweenaw volunteered their time to facilitate the annual sports physical night up at Calumet High School recently. Students’ heading into grades seven through high school from both Calumet Public Schools and Lake Linden-Hubbell Public Schools were able to get their annual sports physical from an Aspirus Keweenaw physician for only five dollars.

Students who will be participating in athletics through their school must have a physical card on file for that year. Along with the time and services being donated for the 288 students that were given their physicals, the money paid for the service was donated to each schools respective sports booster club. “Athletics are important to our communities, and by offering an inexpensive and convenient opportunity for families to get this service, along with the ability to give back the money taken in by this event, we can show our support for local schools and the health and wellness of these athletes”, says Dr. Jerry Luoma, MD, Medical Director at the hospital.
