Impacting Our Community

Aspirus Keweenaw offers a variety of outreach and education programs to our community. Please check the calendar regularly for updated event listings. If you have an idea for a program or educational opportunity that you would like to see offered at Aspirus Keweenaw, please contact us!

The following events take place throughout the year:

Diabetes Support Group: For all adults with Type II diabetes. Join us to learn more about managing your diabetes, share stories and ask questions. No charge. Meets monthly (except during July and August). For more information, contact Elaine Parks, Diabetes Educator, at 337-6598.

Breast Cancer Support Group: For all breast cancer survivors. Meets on the second Thursday of even months (except during June and August). Each meeting features a speaker or presentation on a topic related to breast cancer. No charge for meetings and refreshments are served. For more information, call 337-4187.

Menopause Support Group: A time to share stories, exchange information, learn and get support. For all women going through menopause or those with menopause-related questions. Meets on the second Thursday of odd months (except for July). No charge for meetings that feature a speaker or topic with plenty of time for questions and discussion. For more information, call 337-4187.

Health Screening Days

Women's Health Screening Day: A women's health screening day is held each May as a part of National Women's Check-Up Day. Free or low-cost screenings are offered to women in the community. Un- or under-insured women are given first priority. Aspirus Keweenaw is fortunate to partner with the Western Upper Peninsula District Health Department to make this screening possible. For more information, call (906) 337-4187.

Breast Health Screening Day: Offered in October as a part of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Breast Health Screening Day offers free or low-cost breast screenings (clinical breast exams, mammograms, education on breast self-exam) to eligible women in our community.

Men's Health Screening Day: The Men's Health Screening Day takes place in November, just prior to the start of firearm deer season in Michigan! A variety of free or low cost screenings (blood pressure, blood sugar, prostate (DRE), Urinalysis, bone density) are available with priority given to non-insured or underinsured.
