Childbirth Education Classes
This is a comprehensive class, which will help expectant parents through the stages of late pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. The Instructor will discuss signs of labor, when to come to the hospital, role of the support person and comfort measures such as breathing, relaxation, positions, massage, visualization, and anesthesia and analgesia. In addition, birth plans, what to expect if medical interventions are necessary, including induction of labor and cesarean delivery will be discussed. Postpartum changes and the newborn after delivery will be covered and a tour of the maternity unit is included. This is always a complete 12 hour childbirth class giving you the opportunity to learn about labor and birth, discuss choices and concerns and meet others sharing this special time. Breastfeeding Education Classes
Although breastfeeding is a natural process, it is a learned experience for an infant and new mother. This class covers the structure and function of the breast, benefits of breastfeeding, proper latch-on and positioning, nutrition, breast care, and the role of the partner. Meets one time.
